“As soon as possible, make a U-turn.” Have you ever heard that coming from your parent’s phone or GPS?  In the “old days” people had to take out a map and look for directions.  Now they just punch in the address and a device tells them how to get there.  It doesn’t always work, though.

 

One lady said her GPS told her to turn into a corn field.  She did, and kept going until she got stuck on a golf course.  Others have driven their cars into rivers, the ocean and onto mountain hiking trails.  GPS isn’t always right.

 

The BIBLE is like a GPS, except it is ALWAYS right.  It is a great help in guiding us through life. When we have problems, heartache or we just don’t know what to do, it comforts us and shows us the path to take.

 

The most important place the Bible directs us to is HEAVEN.  A lot of people are confused on how to get to that wonderful place.

Some say:   Everybody goes to heaven.  NOT TRUE

Others say:  There is no heaven.

That’s NOT TRUE either.

 

Some say you get there by:

- Being good

- Going to Church

- Getting baptized

- Working hard to please God

While these are all good things, the Bible says they won’t get you there.  There is only ONE WAY.

 

Genesis tells us that God made man and desired a relationship with him.  He did for a short time until Adam, the first man, chose to disobey God.  That’s when sin entered the world and our relationship was broken.

 

Romans 3:23 says that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.  Heaven is a perfect place.  It is where God lives.  God will not allow sin there and so we have a problem.

 

No matter what we do we can’t get rid of our sins.  We need help.  God knew that and loved us so much that He made a way to show His love and pay for our sins at the same time. 

 

He sent His only Son, JESUS, to pay the penalty for our sins.  He did that by dying on the cross.  He came back to life 3 days later.

 

To have your sins forgiven and to have a relationship with God:

- Admit you are a sinner

- Believe that Jesus died for you and that only He can save you.

- Call on Him to save you.
