10/6/11 New Mailbox Lesson Opportunity
We are presently working on "online answer sheets" for our mailbox club. We are hoping to release it by the time we mail out our first lessons. This will allow students to answer via our website and save postage and time as well as prevent loss in the mail.
We'll keep you posted!
3/20/11 New Cabin Update
Just a few lines to bring you up to speed on the weeks progress.
As you will notice in the attached pictures, the men from Powell First Baptist came up again and worked on electrical, sheetrock and ceiling texturing. Wayne Knauss, Mike figueroa, Don Rhodes, Rick Violet, and Allen Dunsmore joined Jack and Lynne Hamilton, Larry Snyder, Steve Cole, Dave Campbell, Bob Sluder and I to get lots of work done.
All the sheetrock on the long side walls of the middle section is hung, one of the bedroom ceilings is complete, and lots of the outside lights and inside receptacles are in place.
We also have half of the cedar on the high ceiling and hope to finish the rest this coming week. Joe and Nancy Hoell finished the bathroom floor tile and it looks so good.
Bob Sluder has been working on the dirt removal and new road. He and Bud Street plan to get a lot of the dirt moved this week.
The interior doors are ordered and should be ready in the next few days.
Lynne has been pre-varnishing our cedar boards before we nail them up.
Part of the bathroom vanities are nearly complete and the rest should be ready soon.
We will continue to place ceiling, blow insulation, varnish walls, texture ceiling, and hang sheetrock, etc, this week.
How quickly March is marching on. June 4 will be here soon and so much work to complete before then. Keep all of the workers and volunteers, including Cynthia who feeds us lunch everyday, in your prayers please.

3/16/11 New Cabin Update
Hello again--How fast the week goes by.
Attached are 4 pics of some of the workers and progress. Jack and Lynne are varnishing the cedar ceiling and siding, David is tapeing the ceiling joints, Joe and Nancy Hoell are laying the bathroom tile, and I am placing the cedar ceiling in the big room.
Wayne and the group from Powell First Baptist came and installed the outside doors and windows, worked on the big room walls, and roof.
David has been working on electrical, and bed room ceiling.
Lynne, Kathy, and Cynthia have been varnishing the cedar.
Jack, Larry, and I have finished installing the bedroom walls and bathroom walls, and started on the high ceiling. We cut out all the pieces/parts for the bathroom vanities and sent them to a gentleman in Knoxville where he will build them and send them back.
Joe and Nancy from New York are placing the tile in the bath rooms and they look ohso nice(the floors)(Joe and Nancy also).
Greg brought the 2 water heaters donated by American Water Heater Co in Johnson City.
We will continue to work on ceiling, varnish, siding, and tile this week.
We are in need of some kind of flooring for the building, preferably hard wood or laminate if you know of any possibilities.
We are in need of laborers to paint, varnish, roll the ceilings, and carpentry if you know of anyone who might help.
Call us if you think of any suggestions for the needs and keep all the volunteers in your prayers as we continue toward completion.
